Negro Baseball Leagues History @ CAAM: This is a short clip from a show filmed at California African American Museum. Our guest host is Black Baseball Expert, Leroy Copper & several ex-ball players from the 1940’s. The Original National Association of Base Ball Players formed in 1867 banned Black Athletes. In the early 1880’s independent Black teams began forming in the East and MidWest. In 1920 Andrew “Rube” Foster owner of the Chicago American Giants, organized the Negro National League with eight teams. In 1945, Jackie Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier by signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Blaze-Out
